Caring For Your New Draperies

All of my clients ask me what they should do to care for their draperies.  It is really simple.  Get a good quality vacuum cleaner with a drapery attachment.  The draperies should be vacuumed periodically – at least once or twice a year.  Be sure to vacuum the lining on the back of the draperies and the tops of the pleats.  Do NOT leave the windows open and the draperies closed when it is raining.  Rain will cause water spots on your draperies.  If the draperies are really dirty then I recommend taking your custom draperies to a professional dry cleaner who specializes in  draperies, NOT just any run of the mill dry cleaners.  The reason is because draperies are not clothing and shouldn’t be treated like clothing.
